Since April 2004, Jeanine has been a dedicated committee member
of the IDSA New York City chapter, serving most notably as Editor-in-Chief
for the IDSA.NYC quarterly poster/newsletter. In this capacity, Jeanine has
overseen writing and creative direction, while writing selected features,
the calendar of events, and the design resources sections.
In May 2005, Jeanine received her Master of Industrial Design degree
from Pratt Institute. Most recently, Jeanine is Editorial Project Manager
at Scholastic, the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books,
where she serves as a senior-level editorial account executive. In addition to editing,
she lends a full spectrum of copywriting, strategic marketing, and graphic expertise
to a number of pretigious corporate, government, and non-profit clients.
Ms. Caunt received her Bachelor's degree in French and English from Colby College
in 1992. Post graduation, Jeanine has worked for a wide variety of publishing houses,
including D.C. Heath & Company, Houghton Mifflin Company, Rockport Publishers,
Tuttle Publishing, and Element Books. She has a diversity of academic and trade
editorial projects to her credit, from textbooks for the elementary and secondary
school markets, to design titles, cookbooks, gardening, how-to, and other lifestyle
publications. Her editorial ability has earned her a number of publishing awards,
from BookBuilders of Boston, the Boston Society of Landscape Architects, and the
International Association of Culinary Professionals.
Akemi Tanaka is a Brooklyn-based industrial designer. She works to improve the lives
of others while having minimal impact on the environment, with a design aesthetic
rooted in simplicity and utility, through sketch ideation, models, computer renderings
and full-scale products, she creates thoughtful and well-crafted pieces.

Maintaining her southern twang, Joy received a BFA in graphic design and illustration
at the University of Tennessee. After several years in print, identity, illustration
and interactive media, obtained an MID at Pratt Institute to further enhance her
dimensional and tactile design skills.
Joy has been maintaining and enriching the chapter's website since 2002
and tending to the chapter's finances as Treasurer since 2006.
Always interested in a wide variety of disciplines and life experiences, clients
are as varied as range of multimedia projects.
In addition to ongoing freelance work, focus is directed to her passion
and love of providing comfort to the canid population in New York City by fostering
and transitioning dogs in need and also designing spatial and mobile solutions
for an improved canine lifestyle.
