fiamma: The Fiamma table makes a modern reference to the role
of fire throughout human social history. The design's soft inner glow provides
a central beacon at gatherings and a sense of orientation in a space.
The simple sculptural quality of its surface contours can be cut from a choice
of translucent or opaque materials, and their orientation can be rotated
to create engaging interplays of kaleidoscopic effects between the surfaces.

nina: Nina chair: This maple veneer chair was designed and built
at the Denmark's International Study Program in Copenhagen. The inspiration
for this piece of furniture is not specific, but rather a collage of visual
and emotional experiences gathered during my travels throughout Scandinavia.
The Nina chair features interdependent elements, the contrast of both subtle
and dramatic shapes, and a surprisingly comfortable cantilevered seat.
The decision to eliminate all hardware is a result of the desire to stay true
to the clean lines and basic form of this piece.

t1-12 Chair: the upside down TV watching chair:
Poplar Construction, covered in imported Maharam Kavadrat wool from Denmark.
Inspired by graffiti, t1-12 is a revolutionary living room chair for relaxing
and TV watching that challenges convention. By integrating healthy postures
and spinal stretching into home furniture, t1 promotes spinal health by providing
an alternative to lying or slouching on a couch. Sitting in an ordinary chair
can compound spinal compression, which accumulates in the course of a day.
t1-12 can be used in many positions: sitting up or inverted at various angles
for longer or shorter, moderate or extreme stretches. t1-12 actually allows you
to do something healthy while you are watching TV! A couch potato no more!

wall light series:
Yuiko Kobayashi's Light Installations are meant for specific site-responsive
projects, indoors or outdoors where light and form can harmoniously unite.
Repetitive geometric shapes that can be found in nature, both on the micro
and macro levels, or in man-made objects, enhanced by intended use
of light are key elements in her works. They are a combination of playful
lighting with sequences of simple forms that, like fractals, are based
on self-similarity. She regards the relationship of the installation
with its environment as critical in the sense of how it fits the space
and how it reacts to the light.

sunmoon: sun+moon is designed lower than the average chairs.
Lower furniture can make space become larger; especially today the average
person's property is getting smaller. People live in the city have a garden
in a limited space, such as balconies, roofs or patios. Lower chairs can make
people seat closer to the natural. People could feel more settled and comfortable
to touch the plants. In the summer night, the firefly looks as if it is carrying
the lamp around and lighting the garden. The chair also is designed to function
as a light during the nighttime as firefly flash in the garden. sun+moon is an
outdoor chair that people could luxuriate at different times and experience
the sunlight, the moon, and the starlight in their gardens.

These outdoor stools are made from discarded halogen tanks found on the side street
of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They were once used to pump up party balloons and can
be refilled. The perfect structure for a Brooklyn Outdoor Stool! The base design
is based on the water tanks we see in our Brooklyn neighborhood. The seat plates
are made of 30 year old Siberian Larch. Imported from Germany the wood is unique
and reemphasizes the character of old wooden water tanks.

Chess Set. Aluminum, cork, anodized finish.
Designed to create a new language for an ancient game in which hierarchy
is utterly important. Classic proportions, simplicity of rectangles and circles,
and contemporary materials encourage an intuitive literacy that is independent
of traditional symbols. Thus, along with the strategic nature of the game,
the player is engaged in an elegant visual exercise.
Lio Lamps. Recycled light bulb, fiberglass wick, aluminum.
This concept stemmed from the notion that beauty can be found in ordinary things
and the desire to give used objects a new life. When presented this way,
an ordinary light bulb becomes a poetic statement that provides a reassessment
of our conventions of beauty.

ALEJANDRO GOMEZ STUBBS

equilibrium: The concept behind Equilibrium was to design
a bookcase that would break away from the paradigm of what these furniture
pieces look like and how books are stored. To take the concept beyond aesthetics,
it was necessary to understand that books are heavy yet delicate
and valuable pieces that have very specific requirements.
Equilibrium is composed by five modules that vary in size; this allows books
from different sizes to be stored in different shelves, minimizing wasted space.
It also allows the book to rest in a tilted position, making the book easily
accessible, yet eliminating the need for bookends. Visually, the whole unit
creates a striking sensation of movement and balance, which is only emphasized
when it's filled with books.

futaba:
In Japanese, Futaba means "double leaves sprout from one seed".
Futaba is a convertible piece of furniture that transforms from a coffee table
to a love seat. With dual functionality and sustainable materials,
Futaba is transforming the way we live.
For many of us living in urban environments, apartments are quite small.
How can we provide comfort to guests and still have room to move around
when only you are present? This multi-purpose room serves a diverse range
of functions, therefore shouldn't the furniture? Futaba adapts to various demands
and to the people present, as and when needed.
Futaba is made of bamboo plywood and finished in non-toxic polymerized linseed oil.
The fabric is from Carnegie, an interiors textile company committed to the environment.

slim: book rack: Slim will keep your favorite books in sight.
Slim is designed so that the rack and the books together form
a beautiful visual composition. Displayed this way, you will not forget

for sloppy piles of books or overstuffed shelves. Slim can be used
for currently read books, for cook books in the kitchen or just
to place your favorite books in. The design allows for almost any book size
to be stored and easy mounting makes it simple to (re)hang the shelves
in any house or apartment.

sto: The Stackable Café Chair with Storage:
STO solves the problem of having nowhere to place personal belongings
during a meal at a restaurant. In large cities where restaurants have
limited amounts of space and tightly packed tables, most diners' bags
end up on the floor or on back of the seat. Neither option is ideal
for the customers whose personal items are either at risk of theft,
or in the way of bustling wait-staff who already have little maneuvering
space. Ideal for diners and restaurant owners alike, STO offers a safe,
easily accessible place to stow personal belongings.

KAI TSIEN WILLIAMS
perch: The design of my "Perch" is based on the concept
of a vertical lounge chair i.e. turning a lounge chair on end. This design
allows me to shorten the dimensions of the seat of my "Perch" beyond what
is normally seen in a chair. The form of the chair is inspired by a West African
"Dogan" leaning ladder. I saw an opportunity, in the perched position,
for a seated party to conveniently converse at approximately the same level
as a standing person (eye level). This type of seating, in an altered form,
would also have useful applications in the back of theaters and auditoriums.
